Inspiration

Prada

Over the last three years I have been studying fashion design. I like the label Prada because it is not in-your-face like so many fashion brands. There is so much ego and hype in the fashion industry but Prada has gone the other way and still achieved mainstream success.

Amy Winehouse

Despite the unfortunate circumstances in her personal life, I say Amy Winehouse was a brilliant contribution to culture. Her soulful, individual style is refreshing in a world where things are more and more prefabricated and designed for profit rather than a better world. It seems a real loss that a person like her have to die young.

European Craftmanship

Having studied fashion design over the last several years I have developed an appreciation for the skills it takes to design and make quality garments. To the untrained eye the blazers here may not seem like much. To me it is a profound thing that one designer can take a piece of cloth and make a garment that will be of value for 20 years, whereas another designer would take the same piece of cloth and make a garment that will discarded next year.

Celtic/Wiccan Designs

The designs and music of the Celtic culture have a strong influence on me. I find this "dragon's eye" symbol that I found in my book "The 21 Lesson of Merlyn" to be very cool.

Industrial Aesthetics

I am exploring things that are influenced by the industrial era, from the grunge of the 90s to futuristic cities. As humanity moves into a new era, our aesthetic taste is changing and I find I resonate with the new images emerging; maybe because I'm a child of the 90's.
